Bempton Cliffs
No. 1 attraction
The best place to see, hear and smell seabirds!
Each year over 250,000 of them flock to the cliffs between Bempton and Flamborough, many to find a mate and raise their young. From April to August the cliffs are alive with nest-building adults or young chicks taking their first faltering steps.
Between mid-April and mid-July the much-loved puffin makes its home here. From February to October thousands of gannets nest on the cliffs of the only mainland gannetry in England. Bempton also has the largest kittiwake colony in mainland Britain.

Flamborough Head Lighthouse
No. 4 attraction
A lighthouse was first built on the Flamborough Headland in 1669 but was never lit. The current lighthouse was built in 1806 and acts as a waypoint for deep sea vessels and coastal traffic as well as marking the Flamborough Headland for vessels heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington.
The two lighthouses can be found at Flamborough Head. The old 'lighthouse' is set a short distance back from the sea, the 'new' one is built on the cliff edge.

Scarborough
Scarborough beaches are lovely, clean and safe and great to visit at any time of year. The North Bay is quieter, there are cafes, beach huts, wc's, the model railway and a lovely long promenade.
The South Bay has amusement arcades, rock, ice cream and fast food shops, pubs and souvenir shops. The sands are clean and the water is safe for paddlers and brave swimmers - this is the North Sea!
There is ample parking at Burniston Road Car Park and near the indoor Swimming Pool as well as Marine Drive and The Sealife Centre. Close by is Northstead Manor Gardens and the North Bay Miniature Railway as well as Peasholm Park and the new Sands Development.

Whitby
Fish and chips and ice cream; history and culture; vampires and Goths: it’s all on offer at Whitby, one of the North East coast’s best-loved seaside towns.
With Blue Flag beaches and many attractions, including the world-famous steam North Yorkshire Moors Railway,
Captain Cook was born nearby, and whose famous ship the Endeavour was Whitby-built.
Its literary connections – Bram Stoker’s famous Dracula features the town, with the vampire first coming ashore here from Transylvania in the guise of a black dog – have inspired the world famous Goth Festival, which now takes place twice a year, in the spring and around Hallowe’en.
